Freestyle frisbee across Europe experienced an unprecedented rhythm this summer. Every weekend throughout July brought the global family together to share fields, routines, and ideas—from the technical precision at the German Championships (DM 26), to the relaxed flow of AmsterJAM, and the community spirit of Shred and Ride II.
This continuous journey across July set a welcoming foundation of learning, shared passion, and collective energy that carried straight into the main event of the year.
The Heart of FPAW Munich 2026
Held at the Sportschule Oberhaching, the 2026 FPA & WFDF World Freestyle Flying Disc Championships brought together over 110 players representing 13 nations—including competitors traveling from Germany, Italy, the United States, Colombia, Poland, the Czech Republic, Israel, Belgum, Spain, and Canada.
It was a gathering defined by love for the disc, deep community ties, and an incredible exchange between generations. Beloved legends who shaped the foundation of freestyle stood side-by-side with first-time World Championship attendees, offering guidance, inspiration, and shared jams. The event also highlighted the rapid growth of players who have raised their level at a remarkable pace over the past season.
As the first World Championship jointly sanctioned by the Freestyle Players Association (FPA) and the World Flying Disc Federation (WFDF), Munich 2026 stood as a landmark moment of unity for our sport.

Women’s Pairs
A powerful demonstration of control, grace, and athletic technicality. The field reflected the steady rise in women’s freestyle worldwide, with teams delivering tight, highly synchronized routines under high-pressure conditions.

Mixed Pairs
Highlighting mutual trust, artistic flow, and seamless cooperation between partners. Mixed Pairs continues to showcase the unique heart of freestyle, where dynamic chemistry and smooth disc transitions take center stage. A truly remarkable moment on the podium was the father-daughter duo taking third place, inspiring the entire tournament.

Open Pairs
Deeply competitive and packed with high-speed innovation. A standout feature of this year’s Open Pairs was the impressive presence of female competitors stepping into the division and surprising the crowd with standout performances, sharp defense, and exceptional execution against world-class fields. Ultimately, after intense battles, the most experienced and skillful male players claimed the top spot on the podium.

Open Co-op
True to its name, Open Co-op was genuinely open to all combinations of players. Trios took to the field showcasing high-flying catches, multi-disc chaos, and the pure, unselfish teamwork that defines three-person play.

World-Class Organization & The Munich Frisbee Festival
An event of this scale relies entirely on vision, dedication, and execution. Special recognition goes to Tournament Director Daniel Weinbuch and his incredible organizational team, who delivered a complete logistical success from start to finish. Every detail was handled with precision, allowing the players to focus purely on their routines and community connection.
Capturing every iconic moment off and on the field, photographers Zofia Wilczek and Konrad Patris spent countless hours behind the lens, documenting the energy, passion, and artistry of the entire tournament with amazing shots.
Running in parallel with the World Championship, the Munich Frisbee Festival brought a vibrant multi-discipline atmosphere to the venue. Spectators and athletes enjoyed showcases across various flying disc disciplines, while the Junior Tournament stood out as a true highlight—packed with prizes, smiles, and high-energy competition for the young promises who represent the future of our sport.
Bringing the magic of Munich to viewers worldwide were Jake and James on live stream commentary, whose insightful, engaging play-by-play kept global fans connected to every catch, pass, and throw-down throughout the weekend.
The Journey Continues: August & Beyond
The summer momentum rolls forward into August as players head to:
- Viking Jam V (Oslo, Norway | August 14–16, 2026): Set on the scenic Heinsfjord Island—just a 25-minute ferry ride from central Oslo—the fifth installment of this Nordic saga offers free island camping, lush grass fields, and non-stop jamming under the late-summer sun.
- Sandslash Dębki 2026 (Dębki, Poland | August 28–30, 2026): Celebrating its 16th edition, this premier beach event pairs Beach Ultimate and Freestyle Frisbee on Baltic shores. Featuring Open and Mixed divisions alongside an interactive, audience-judged Freestyle Show, players will enjoy steady coastal winds, wide white-sand beaches, and beachfront sunset sessions.
Looking further ahead, excitement continues to build as the global community prepares for future international gatherings, including the return of the World Championships to South America for Medellín 2027.
