Add Tournament Results - Step by Step

Basically your goal is to enter everything you know or can find out about this event:
  • Enter Detailed results for each pool for the event;
  • Enter Summary info for the event;
  • You may also need to add new players to the database.
The first event you enter will be time consuming as you figure things out, but you'll get fast at it quickly.
Email the FPA Help Desk if you have any questions as you enter results.

Select the Event to Edit
1. Gather information about event
  • Browse or search shrednow.com for results if you don't have them;
  • Look through old Jammer and euroJam emails for postings about the event.
2. Select the event to edit
  • Click edit results page and enter password;
  • Select year and find the event to edit;
  • Click Details or Summary for the desired event;
  • Follow the steps below depending on whether you're updating detail or summary info.

Entering Detailed Pool Results
1. Identify Pool to Edit
  • Select Division - if pairs and 3-somes compete in the same pool use "OPEN FORMAT"
  • Select Round;
  • Enter Pool - leave blank if finals or if only one pool;
  • Be careful to enter the above 3 fields accurately;

  • Enter number of teams in this pool;
  • Press "Enter Pool Details" button at page bottom to enter detailed results for this pool.
2. Enter/Edit Results for This Pool
  • You should now be on a form allowing you to enter player names, score and comments for the entire pool;
  • Position the cursor in leftmost field and type the first few letters of the player's last name. Then use the select list to the right to pick the player (works with IE6 at least);

  • Optionally enter a score and comment;

  • Click "Add Results" button on the bottom before the page times out. You can always re-edit it as needed;

  • If there's a tie, enter the names and then to the right of the comment field is a field to enter the true ranking. For example, if Team A and B tie for 1st, enter the teams as 1 and 2, and then in the "Tie Rank" field enter 1 and 1.

  • if you are editing an existing pool and can't find it, go to the results page for that event and verify the pool/division.

3. Missing player names
  • There may have been new players you wanted to enter but were not in the select list.
  • After saving the "incomplete" pool results in step 2 above, add the missing players
  • then repeat step 2 here and re-add those missing players to the results.
  • Be very careful not to enter duplicate player names - search carefully.
4. Repeat step 2 for other pools of the event.

Entering Event Summary Info
  • You can get to this "Update Event Summary" form by selecting "Summary" on the page where you selected an "event to edit" in step 2 at the top of this page.
  • All info on this form is optional but nice to have for posterity;

  • Find what you can from emails (jammersOnTheNet and EuroJam) and web sites (e.g. shrednow, jamngo, youtube);

  • Event review - cut and paste what you can find;
  • Add links to media articles, videos/photo pages, etc.

Verify results

Thanks for helping - all FPA volunteers and jammers appreciate it! It's time consuming work to enter detailed event information, including pasting in jammer emails into the "write-up" field and entering links to videos and photos that others post.

But it's worth it. By selecting any event in our sport's history, a user can see all the information available about a tournament, including detailed results, video and photo links, player write-ups, etc. And once it's entered, it's there forever.
