Freestyle disc is considered not only an extreme flying disc sport, but it's
also a lifestyle choice in many ways; there's something about disc sports and the self-refereeing or self-
judging aspect that makes it special. We don't rely on professionals or corporations to guide us - we as
players guide our own sport. And, we've been doing that for over 25 years.
For the past several years, freestyle disc has expanded to more countries, been seen by more people
(through video web-sites), and been played in more international venues than ever. With initiatives
like Jam Camp, Spread the Jam Grant, educational DVDs, the revamping of the FPA web-site, links
to "how to" videos, and more freestyle events occurring each year - the jamming community is certainly
growing! And, we want to be a part the larger community of disc sports, and other non-disc events in
your local area! We're small as compared to other sports - but we have big heart and a true love of the
jamming spirit.
The FPA is a player-centered entity; which means that we make most of our big decisions with FPA
member input. As the Executive Director of the FPA, I'm excited to work among a dedicated group of
folks who make up the Board of Directors, and lots of really great FPA members. Each Board of Director
member is truly committed to figuring out some of the most creative methods of how best to "Spread
the Jam" (as we like to say) of freestyle disc to more and more people across the planet! Ambitious
goal? Of course. But, also a worthwhile one.
As always the FPA Board of Directors works behind the scenes to enhance the exposure, education,
accessibility, and high-level competitions for all types of freestyle disc players. Even if you are just
learning about how to do some trick throws or catches, or if you have been jamming for decades - our
organization is committed to helping you play freestyle for as many years and in whatever capacity that
you choose.
