Greetings, and welcome to 2009!

It's been a busy year in the world of freestyle! We continue to grow as a sport and an organization, which has inspired challenging competition, fun tournaments, and generated lots of tasks!! The FPA Board has been very active, involved, and enthusiastic over the past several years, and 2009 is shaping up to be a great year as well.

I want to personally congratulate each Board Member as well as each FPA Member and thank each of you for your contributions during the past year! Although there have been challenges this year, we have also realized small and important successes while we have worked to increase our visibility, and taken incremental steps forward to grow the number of jammers, and create better, more organized events. Special thanks are also due to all of our sponsors for their generous contributions that help us succeed!

Since 1978 the FPA has been working to further the growth of freestyle disc play as a lifetime recreation and a competitive sport. Today, nearly 30 years later, our mission, our love of the sport, and our passion for fun, spirited, and well-organized competition is as strong as ever. Collectively, we continue to build on the sense of community that makes our sport unique!

In the competitive realm, the FPA sanctions, sponsors and provides organizational support to event directors who produce quality freestyle events. Through education and outreach programs the FPA encourages players around the globe to Spread the Jam, and bring new athletes into the sport.

If you aren't a member yet, join the FPA now and share this great sport with disc enthusiasts around the world. New members receive two discs, a whiz ring, and an introduction to a lifetime of fun in a great community of disc athletes. Visit our online forum, a great resource for up and coming players to communicate and share ideas, in addition to the Jammers on the Net newsgroup.

Over 25 freestyle tournaments will be held throughout the USA and internationally in 2009, and we are very excited that this year the 2009 FPA World Championships will be held in Berlin, Germany! Please be sure to visit and update your worldwide player profile and make plans using the Freestyle Tournament Calendar.

May the coming year bring us lots of fun jams, good times with friends, and afford each of us great opportunities to teach and grow our sport! There are always numerous opportunities for you to volunteer time on a vast array of projects feel free to contact me or any of our FPA Board members for more information. I'm so pleased to have the opportunity to work with all of you in the community. Its going to be a great year!
