Where are the best jam beaches in the U.S.?
(1/1)
Rolland B. Rush:
Again, for me the criteria is flat sand at low tide and a nice breeze coming from the ocean. A few favorites:
Mikondo at Jacksonville Beach - A great jamming beach with good wind and flat sand and a resident jammer :-) Check out the conditions on the live MikondoCam: http://home.comcast.net/~thejammer/video.jpg
La Jolla Shores near San Diego, CA - It gets crowded on some week-ends, but in the San Diego area it's one of the best jamming beaches.
Seaside and nearby beaches in Oregon. Site of Superhein competitions. Big, flat and great wind.
Jamco Nation:
Connecticut- Sherwood Island off I-95. Great crowds and input by the snack bar. Ted Reilly Danzo & Jamco logged many hours here :)
New York- Long Beach- just a short train ride from NYC ;D or Jones Beach followed by cocktails at OBI :P Hamptons rock as well ;)
New Jersey- Atlantic City Boardwalk 8) plenty of high rollers ;)
Maryland- Ocean Beach by the boardwalk- see retail store "Go Fly A Kite"
Florida- Mikondo @ Jacksonville Beach - great flat sand - easy access to beer :o South Beach thru Key West- southernmost JAM spot in USA
California- San Diego= OB@Saratoga, MB@Niantic or Rollercoaster/Canes, PB@Thomas&Reed St., LaJolla Shores best for high tide jam!!!
Oceanside=just south of pier look for JR 8) LA- Santa Monica@Fraser Park, Laguna Beach by flagpole green, Ventura by Surfer Point, Santa Barbara@PalmPark, San Francisco-Ocean Beach, Santa Cruz@4th St. or at Manresa State Park, Gold Beach-wide&flat=awesome like Seaside, Oregon
psycodad:
I am from Michigan. Our best place to play is onthe Lake Michigan shoreline at one of the beaches such as the Oval near grand Haven. The best place I have ever played in Hapuna Beach on the big Island of Hawaii. There is always a decent wind and tons to look at!
